Have you ever asked yourself why do we all listen to our favourite music over again? Is it because we find the tunes catchy, the lyrics interesting, or perhaps we can’t get enough of the sound of the music? If you are asking yourself why do we all love music so much, then the chances are that you also love music. It has got a way of grabbing your attention and holding it all the time!
Ever notice how radio stations keep playing the same songs on the radio for weeks on end? We all love music, but we don’t often take the time to look at the words and tune of a song. We are more likely to just go with the flow and let the song lead the way. Why do we do this? Well, there are quite a few reasons for this.
For one, music allows us to escape into another world. All day, every day, millions of people are stuck inside their little worlds. We spend our whole lives inside them creating new stories for ourselves, and listening to our favourite songs will help us create new stories and maybe even put a little colour into those stories. In addition, sometimes music can remind us of something that we have previously forgotten. A great example of this is when we hear an oldie but goodie tune, and the words seem to ring true no matter what the song is about.
Music can make us feel a million different emotions. So naturally, some of us are going to prefer certain types of music to others. We all have our music preferences, so it’s nothing too surprising that some people enjoy listening to their favourite music more than others. The sound of music can affect us in a very special and personal way. When we are walking through a city, all of us are affected by the sound of a tune.
Music can provide us with a sense of accomplishment, which we all strive for. If we are stuck in one hole, we can listen to a song trying to get us out of it. It might be a sad song, or it might be a happy song, but if the lyrics are helping us move forward, we will be inspired. We can also look back fondly on some of our favourite music and remember why we listened to that particular song.
However, there is one question that always comes to mind when someone asks me, “Why do we listen to our favourite music?” Unfortunately, I cannot answer that yet. I will continue to study the human brain and understand its processes a little better, but for now, let’s just say that music is a great motivator, and we need that to keep going. So, what are you waiting for?
